FIRST-TIME STUDENTS

First Time Student Application

A first-time student is a high-school senior or a high-school graduate who has never attended a college or university since graduation from high school or since earning a GED/HiSet.

FIRST-TIME STUDENTS MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

• High School Transcript (students should have a GPA of 3.0 and rank in the top half of their graduating class)
• ACT, SAT, or CLT Scores (students should obtain our preferred score of 20 on the ACT, 1030 on the SAT, or 63 on the CLT)
  • Test scores must be submitted to the College directly from the test agency or on the official high school transcript. 
  • The College’s ACT code is 2364; SAT code is 6713.
• Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • See the FAFSA website for more details (FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid)
• Two reference forms
• Interviews are required. An admissions staff member will schedule interviews with qualified candidates after receipt of the high school transcript and test scores.
• Interview acknowledgment form (available during the interview)

HOME-EDUCATED FIRST-TIME STUDENTS MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

• High school transcripts must be typed and contain the following:
  • All courses taken in chronological order;
  • Year and term in which the courses were taken;
  • Letter or percentage grade (Pass/Fail is not accepted);
  • Grade Point Average for each term of study, along with a cumulative average;
  • Signature of home educator.
• Students who are home-educated and also attend other institutions simultaneously must submit:
  • The homeschool transcript, including courses taken at other institutions,
  • and the official transcript from the other institution(s).
• Students who have taken home school courses through an established nontraditional program (online, correspondence, etc.), which evaluated coursework and issued a transcript, must submit that transcript (including the information below) along with the program’s contact information:
  • all courses taken,
  • when they were taken (year and term),
  • letter or percentage grade earned (we do not accept pass/fail grades),
  • grade point average (students should have a minimum GPA of 3.0),
  • signature of home educator.
• An official HiSET score report or GED score report and certificate will be accepted in lieu of a high school transcript,
• ACT, SAT, or CLT Scores (students should obtain our preferred score of 20 on the ACT, 1030 on the SAT, or 63 on the CLT).

TRANSFER STUDENTS

Transfer Student Application

College of the Ozarks welcomes applications from transfer students who have completed a minimum of 12 college credits with a 3.0 grade point average after high school graduation..

Transfer applicants must submit transcripts of all college-level coursework even if they do not wish to transfer the credits. Applicants who have grade point averages beneath the College’s standards should include a written explanation for below-standard academic performance. The admission or enrollment of applicants who do not report previous college-level work is subject to revocation.

Transfer courses from regionally accredited institutions with C- grades or above will be accepted by College of the Ozarks for incoming students, provided that they are not vocational or remedial in nature. Transfer courses with grades of D and F will not be accepted. Accepted courses may count toward graduation requirements, subject to evaluation by the Registrar and Dean of the College. For students entering the College on or after January 1, 2017, and for classes transferred on or after this date the College will not figure transfer grades into the cumulative grade point average. Former students who are readmitted after this date will be subject to the same policy as first-time students.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International Student Application

The College welcomes applications from international students. Because the College was founded to serve students from the Ozarks region, openings for international students are limited. We have vacancies for approximately 3-6 international students each year and welcome their unique contributions to our campus life! 

After we receive your application, we will send you a list of documents and other items necessary to complete your admissions file.

International students must submit the following:

• Official college transcript(s) (if a transfer student),
• Transfer student form (if a transfer student),
• Two reference forms,
• Educational Background Form or transcript of secondary education,
• Foreign financial certification form,
• TOEFL Score (550 paper-based; 213 computer-based; 79-80 internet-based) or IELTS Score (minimum 5.5),
• ACT/SAT/CLT Scores will be considered if submitted. ACT/SAT scores must be submitted to the College directly from ACT/SAT (College Board). 
  • The College’s ACT code is 2364; SAT code is 6713.
• Required interview, (an admissions staff member will schedule interviews with qualified candidates after receipt of transcripts and test scores),
• Affidavit of Support (available at http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-134.pdf).
• Interview acknowledgment form (available during the interview).

Applicants' files are considered complete when each requirement has been received and processed. Other items may be required in special circumstances. Applicants are encouraged to complete the application requirements as soon as possible since admission to College of the Ozarks is quite competitive. Please see our Admissions Process Time Line for important information regarding a target date for completing the admissions file.   

Once an international student is admitted, the College will issue an I-20 form, required to schedule an appointment for the student visa interview at the United States Embassy. International students at the College must be documented; international students typically have an F-1 visa.

FORMER STUDENTS

Former Student Application

Former C of O students must submit the following:

• C of O Transcript (obtained by the Admissions Office),
• Cash Account clearance (student account must be clear before your application will be processed),
• Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), see FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid
• Dean's approval (obtained by the Admissions Office).
• Interview acknowledgment form (available during the interview).
• In most cases, former students are required to appear for a former student admission interview. Admissions staff members will contact former student applicants to schedule the interview.
